Aircraft Services Education Facility
RS&H and Dana B. Kenyon Company partnered for the design-build of a three-bay hangar with adjoining classroom space at Cecil Airport, a decommissioned naval air station in Jacksonville, Florida. The hangar is jointly owned and operated by the Florida State College at Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Aviation Authority.
The facility includes two maintenance (MRO) bays capable of servicing planes as large as a Boeing 757-300 and one aircraft coating bay capable of servicing and painting planes as large as a Boeing 767-300. A push-pull ventilation system with a three-stage filtration system within the aircraft coating bay removes excess fumes and paint from the coating process.
