Ryan Vasile Named Northeast Florida Young Engineer of the Year

March 13, 2019

RS&H Senior Structural Engineer Ryan Vasile has long-earned praise from colleagues and clients. Earlier this month, he picked up honors from his profession.

Vasile was named Northeast Florida’s Young Engineer of the Year Award. The award honors the Florida Engineering Society (FES), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) members who best exemplifies the ideal image of the young engineer.

“I am honored to accept this award and to be mentioned with past recipients, some of whom I have worked with and call my friends,” Vasile said. “I’d like to thank RS&H for their support in allowing me to serve our industry. It’s great to work at a firm that supports their associates and their growth.”

The Northeast Florida Young Engineer award criteria looks at achievements in education, employment, professional and public service activities. Vasile has these in spades.

Vasile is responsible for the preparation of bridge design calculations, bridge contract plans, developmental reports, construction cost and quantity estimates, and design of various transportation structures.

In addition to his work at RS&H, he is also an adjunct professor at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, where he teaches structural steel design and introduction to bridge engineering. Vasile is a licensed PE in Florida and Georgia and serves on committees of engineering and educational organizations.

“Ryan is somebody that is not only extremely talented, but he has a way of making personal connections with his clients, his peers, with everyone,” said RS&H Vice President and Jacksonville Office Leader Morgan County. “He’s able to get the most out of everybody he works with.”

In his acceptance speech, Vasile was quick to thank his coworkers.

“We’ve had the pleasure of working on a lot of great projects,” he said. “And we’ve worked on them with even greater people.”
