Janie Tiedeman, PE, has joined the RS&H team as a Vice President to lead the firm’s transportation growth in Maryland.

As the State Leader, Tiedeman will utilize her substantial experience in the region to advance RS&H’s growth in Maryland and take on a leadership role in the company’s I-495 and I-270 Managed Lanes P3 Program.

Tiedeman brings a wealth of transportation sector experience and has a strong reputation as a creative, innovative thinker that is a known and trusted client advisor. Tiedeman’s major project experience includes some of the region’s most critical transportation programs, including the Intercounty Connector, the Chesapeake Bay Crossing Studies, Maryland Purple Line Light Rail, I-395 Express Lanes and the Arlington Memorial Bridge. As an accomplished leader, Tiedeman is thankful for the impact her varied project teams have had on the growth of Maryland municipalities, especially Montgomery County.

Tiedeman is proud to be a recognized industry leader who paves the way for women and minorities. She has been a longtime mentor and participant on the steering committee for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging for the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), as well as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for WTS, where she is a past president of the Baltimore chapter.

“Janie brings strong leadership skills in business development and knowledge to expand the team’s service offerings to include planning, design, and alternative delivery for large, critical projects in the region,” said RS&H Vice President and Region Leader Dusty Holcombe. “We are excited that she has a passion for the advancement of equity, diversity, and inclusion on a global basis and participates on industry boards focused on creating environments that promote and support these values.”

A native Marylander, Tiedeman is excited to advance work on projects in her home state, contributing to the communities in which she and her team call home. Complementing the team’s transportation strengths, she will be collaborating with other RS&H service areas, including aviation and construction management.

“There is an authenticity that people have at RS&H – they are excited about the company culture and the work we do,” Tiedeman said. “I am thrilled to be a part of it.”

Tiedeman is a graduate of the University of Maryland with both her Bachelor’s and Master of Science degrees in structural engineering.
