RS&H, an employee-owned, national engineering, architecture and consulting firm, has earned honors for two Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects in the 2026 Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Florida Region Project Awards program.
The firm earned Overall Project of the Year and Project of the Year – Transportation Roadways honors for the FDOT District One I-75 at US 301 Interchange Design-Build project. RS&H also received Project of the Year – Rehabilitation/Renovation and/or Restoration recognition for the FDOT District One Hurricane Ian Pine Island Road and Little Pine Island Bridge Permanent Repairs project.
The I‑75 at US 301 Interchange Design-Build project transformed a major regional gateway by reconfiguring the interchange, widening I‑75, and constructing new ramp bridges over the Manatee River designed for ultimate future capacity. Delivered through a collaborative design-build partnership, the project team maintained traffic on a critical interstate corridor while advancing construction and positioning the roadway for long-term performance.

The Hurricane Ian Pine Island Road and Little Pine Island Bridge Permanent Repairs restored reliable access following catastrophic damage to the only vehicular connection to Pine Island and Matlacha caused by Category 4 Hurricane Ian. The hurricane caused a complete washout of approximately 500 feet of Pine Island Road and undermined approach slabs at the Little Pine Island Bridge. FDOT District One, in coordination with Lee County, selected phased design‑build delivery to accelerate roadway, drainage and utility reconstruction.

Both projects reflect the strength of the partnership between RS&H, FDOT, and the teaming partner firms that contributed at every phase.
The recognition from DBIA Florida affirms the technical excellence and collaborative spirit that defined both efforts, and it celebrates what teams can accomplish when they work as one toward a common goal.
