[Pittsburgh, PA] RS&H, an employee-owned architecture, engineering and consulting services firm, is proud to announce the opening of its newest office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This expansion reinforces RS&H’s commitment to serving clients throughout the Commonwealth and addressing the region’s vital infrastructure and transportation needs.

The newly established office, situated just 11 miles east of downtown Pittsburgh, provides convenient access to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Districts 10, 11, and 12 and Pittsburgh International Airport. This strategic location enhances RS&H’s ability to contribute to the region’s infrastructure modernization efforts.

RS&H’s footprint in Pennsylvania continues to grow, building on its established presence in Philadelphia and ongoing work at Philadelphia International Airport, as well as engagements with PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC). Opening the new Pittsburgh office is an important milestone, deepening RS&H’s relationships with transportation clients across western Pennsylvania.

“Our team has grown in western Pennsylvania with the incredible additions of David J. Layman, PE, and John L. McCombie, PE,” said Christopher Shaeffer, Senior Program Director at RS&H. “Their PennDOT experience creates exciting opportunities as we enhance our presence in the Commonwealth.”

Over the past year, RS&H has bolstered its regional transportation services team by welcoming David J. Layman, PE, and John L. McCombie, PE. Both professionals bring more than 20 years of experience in delivering high-quality transportation projects to PennDOT and are instrumental in the firm’s expansion efforts.

Layman, pictured left, offering deep expertise from his tenure at PennDOT District 10, shared, “I was impressed by RS&H’s success with complex transportation projects, their strong client relationships, and employee-ownership commitment. After over 20 years managing important projects at PennDOT, I am eager to use my skills and experience in project delivery, team development, and client engagement at a consulting firm that values innovation and teamwork.”

McCombie, pictured right, added, “I’ve managed and designed bridge and transportation projects in the public and private sectors, which has given me a solid understanding of how to complete high-quality projects, achieve the client’s goals, and lead multi-discipline teams. I’m excited to use my skills to find creative solutions, build strong teams, and partner with consultants and clients to create quality infrastructure that helps communities.”

RS&H is thrilled to join the vibrant Pittsburgh community and looks forward to welcoming clients and industry professionals to its new office. If you’re in the Steel City, we encourage you to stop by and meet the team as we work together to advance Pennsylvania’s infrastructure.
