Building Information Modeling (BIM)

Design visualizations are an exceptional medium and a “virtual” necessity to accurately visualize, thoroughly study, and effectively communicate building designs and systems. Building Information Modeling (BIM) represents an exciting new approach to building design and allows RS&H and its clients to effectively visualize and communicate design solutions from a project’s planning stages through construction administration and into facility management.

BIM utilizes a parametric change engine, which coordinates changes made anywhere in the model views, drawing sheets, schedules, or plans. This minimizes system conflicts commonly found in traditional 2-D design. We utilize this increased efficiency to focus on the design and detailing of a project.

By leveraging BIM at RS&H, we are able to provide increased value to our clients. Implementing BIM on projects increases:

  • Collaborative design and coordination resulting in less RFI’s on a project and reduced change orders.
  • Reducing Energy Usage and Operating Cost. The BIM data can be exported to numerous analysis programs to yield an accurate account of a building’s design and allows the opportunity to investigate alternatives from operational and aesthetic perspectives.
  • Accurate and understandable visualization of the intended design by the owner as well as the constructor. BIM allows the team to view detail conditions in 3-D well before shop drawings are fabricated and are instrumental in the coordination of building systems.
