[AUSTIN, TX] – RS&H’s David Bemporad, a transportation planner from the Austin, TX office, recently earned his American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification. As a transportation planner, David has been working to help build the Texas planning team. He serves as a deputy project manager and subject matter expert on several complex projects, has helped to secure wins with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the City of San Antonio, and has presented on roadway safety at conferences, stakeholder engagement events, and public meetings.

“I’ve always wanted to spend my career serving others in whatever way I can, but my path to finding the field of transportation planning and the rewarding public service therein wasn’t direct,” said Bemporad. “Transportation planning, now at RS&H, has been my way to serve the community that raised me, the communities that I love, and to find the joy and artistry in making every road, trail, and highway a better place to be.”

The AICP is the only nationwide, independent verification of qualifications for planning professionals. AICP planners have verified their academic and professional achievements, successfully demonstrated that their experience meets established criteria for professional planning practice, and passed a rigorous, comprehensive examination of their abilities. They pledge to uphold high standards of practice, and keep their skills sharp and up to date by continuously pursuing advanced professional education through the Certification Maintenance program.

“I chose to pursue an AICP certification because I learned that becoming certified as a planner gives me the foundation, knowledge, and recognition needed to make real change for the better in every city where I work,” said Bemporad.
