FARMINGTON HILLS, Michigan – RS&H, one of the leading engineering, architecture and consulting firms in the country, has hired Robert “Bob” Jones to lead its new Project Controls Group.

Jones is an industry expert in identifying, positioning, executing, and negotiating delay, changed condition and altered scope construction claims worth millions of dollars across various disciplines, contract formats and markets.

“We’re excited to have Bob join us as our Project Controls Group finds new ways to serve our project owners,” said RS&H Transportation-Construction Management Practice Director Doug Geiger. “We are elevating how we analyze construction schedules and become more active with contractors and owners on project scheduling.”

Jones will utilize his expertise as a contractor with 30 years of experience to provide RS&H’s owner clients with valuable assistance in critical path method (CPM) scheduling, claims mitigation and analysis, risk management, cost estimating and management, document control, scope and change management, specification writing, and constructability review.

Jones arrives at RS&H after 28 years at Toebe Construction, where he started his career and ultimately became the first, non-family co-owner of the 97-year company. He has worked with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) on a host of high-profile projects, including Interstate 275’s reconstruction, the Fort Street Bascule Bridge and the Gateway project.  He also has worked in Canada on the Ambassador Bridge’s main span replacement and the Herb Gray Parkway P3 project.

“My experience has provided me the insight to utilize almost 60 different criteria to evaluate submitted construction schedules on,” Jones said. “By evaluating schedules this way, we can spot smoke before there’s fire and help reduce exposure to our project owners with our analysis.”

Jones holds a Bachelor of Science in construction management from Eastern Michigan University and is nationally certified in Primavera basic and advanced scheduling as well as Deltek Fuse and Risk. He can be reached at bob.jones@rsandh.com.
