Lengel Reappointed as AAAE Committee Vice Chair

Editor’s Note: This post was originally published in May 2018 and has been updated to reflect Mr. Lengel’s reappointment.

RS&H Vice President and Environmental Stewardship & Resiliency Group Leader John Lengel, PE, ENV SP, has been reappointed to Vice Chair of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Environmental Services Committee.

The committee provides support to AAAE members on environmental issues and communicates the membership’s positions to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other federal or state agencies. The committee is guided by the principles of protecting human health and the environment at and around airports by implementing scientifically based and cost-effective management practices and approaches.

“I’m proud to support AAAE as it continues to focus education and outreach activities on key airport environmental challenges,” Lengel noted. “This is especially important now as airports face unprecedented needs for reasonability in regulatory requirements.”

For more than a quarter-century, Lengel has worked with more than 50 airports nationwide providing environmental compliance expertise, specializing in resiliency, water resources, regulatory strategy development, sustainability, environmental management systems, hazardous chemical inventory and more.

He has been involved in the AAAE Environmental Services Committee since the mid-1990s, having served as its Vice Chair for the past two years and spending five years prior to that as the Committee’s Water Quality Chair.

Founded in 1928, AAAE is the world’s largest professional organization for airport executives, representing thousands of airport management personnel at public-use commercial and general aviation airports. AAAE’s members represent nearly 875 airports and authorities, in addition to hundreds of companies and organizations that support airports.
