[Tampa, FLA] Brent Wilkins, PE, DBIA, Associate Vice President and Senior Project Engineer with RS&H, was awarded the prestigious Engineer of the Year award by the Florida Engineering Society (FES), Ridge Chapter. This honor recognizes Wilkins’ outstanding contributions to the engineering profession and exceptional leadership in advancing infrastructure projects across Florida.

“The Engineer of the Year award highlights what clients, partners, and fellow associates learn early in relationships with Brent. He is truly passionate about engineering excellence and positively impacting the communities we serve,” stated Bill Downey, PE, LEED AP, Vice President, Florida CEI Leader.

With over 15 years of experience in the construction and engineering industry, Wilkins has built a career defined by technical expertise, innovative problem-solving, and dedication to delivering complex, large-scale projects. Since joining RS&H, Wilkins has led precise, forward-thinking infrastructure projects, delivering quality results on time and within budget. He is currently the senior project engineer on the innovative I-4 Truck Parking Facility project for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District 7 in Hillsborough County, FL. He is also the senior project engineer on another FDOT I-4 project, resurfacing over 12 miles of I-4 through Plant City, Fla.

“Receiving this award has been extremely humbling. There is no greater professional accomplishment than to be recognized by my peers for my contribution to our community and industry. I have been fortunate to work with so many great engineers in my career who have taken the time to be mentors and help me develop,” said Wilkins. “I am forever grateful for their leadership. This award is a reminder that we must continue to advocate for the betterment of our communities through best practices and, even more importantly, pass along these ideals to the next generation of engineers”.
