RS&H, a national engineering, architecture and consulting firm, has promoted two leaders in Virginia to capitalize on its success in the region.
RS&H’s John Vandergriff, PE has been promoted to Vice President and the firm’s Virginia Leader, while Mark McElwain will fill Vandergriff’s previous role of Richmond Office Leader.
Over the last year, RS&H’s growth in the Mid-Atlantic has called for expanded roles for leadership in order to nurture the growth. Long-term and large-scale projects, including Fredericksburg Major Project Services and the Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions (STARS) Program, have demanded additional resources to meet clients’ needs.
Since helping to establish RS&H’s Richmond Office in 2011, Vandergriff has cultivated strong relationships with clients and partners throughout the region.
“One of John’s best achievements is assembling a team of highly qualified engineers and professionals that continue to build long-term relationships with clients and teaming partners in Virginia,” said RS&H Mid-Atlantic Region Leader and Vice President Dusty Holcombe.
With the promotion, Vandergriff will pass that legacy team to McElwain, as Vandergriff will now focus on strategic growth and business development opportunities for the entire state.
McElwain came to RS&H in 2012 and is highly regarded by associates and clients for both his wealth of engineering knowledge and experience and his “get it done” attitude. He has been a mentor to associates in the Richmond office and beyond and is expected to continue developing the growing office and creating future leaders.
“In his new role as the Richmond Office Leader, Mark will continue to utilize those leadership skills to build and implement a business plan focused on growth in the RS&H team, business opportunities, performance metrics and increased brand awareness in the Virginia market,” Holcombe said.
