JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – John Bottaro and Andy Kaminsky have spent decades putting their individual marks on the architecture, engineering and consulting industry. Both will soon retire from RS&H’s executive leadership team – Bottaro as Executive Vice President, Buildings Strategy Leader, and Kaminsky as Chief People Officer – knowing that they are leaving the industry and RS&H in a better place.

“John and Andy have shaped RS&H with their passion for and success in developing strategies for the firm and bringing the right teams together to help us reach new heights,” said RS&H Chief Executive Officer Dave Sweeney. “We wish them well in retirement and are forever grateful for their time and contributions here.”

Bottaro began his career at RS&H in 1983 and ascended through several leadership positions, supporting buildings projects of all sizes for clients across multiple markets. His vast expertise in building design led Bottaro to identify and lead new initiatives and break into new markets – all essential to RS&H’s continued growth. He became an executive vice president in 2015 and has served on RS&H’s board of directors since 2008.

In addition to serving as project officer on more than 100 RS&H projects, Bottaro led RS&H to establish its design philosophy and publish its first design book. He spearheaded the firm’s buildings initiative and was the driving factor behind RS&H joining the COP26 Communique that was published and delivered at the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference of the Parties.

A member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Large Firm Roundtable, John prioritized engaging in conversations that moved the architecture industry forward.

“John is a fixture of the RS&H fabric,” Sweeney said. “He has tirelessly worked to bring the right ideas and leadership to building designs across the country.”

Kaminsky joined RS&H in 2019 as an executive vice president overseeing the firm’s administrative functions, including human resources, information technology, legal and communications. Building on a 30-plus-year career in the AEC industry, Kaminsky ushered in significant improvements in RS&H’s human resources and administrative processes and systems.

During his tenure, Kaminsky expanded RS&H’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and helped shape new job architecture, recruiting strategies, and health and safety priorities for the organization. He played a large part in the creation of RS&H’s Community Conversations, a program built to ensure all employees feel that their voices are heard and considered.

“Andy joined RS&H during a time of significant growth, and his skill for managing the complexities of an expanding enterprise have enabled us to keep growing,” Sweeney said. “Andy’s experience and touch has greatly benefited our ongoing and future initiatives.”

Both Bottaro and Kaminsky will retire by March 31. Bottaro will continue to serve on RS&H’s board of directors until his term ends in August later this year.
