Geospatial Consulting Projects

RS&H is serving as engineer-of-record for three segments of the expressway representing over $459 million in total construction costs: SR 23/US 90 interchange (completed), Clay north, and Clay south.


RS&H is the Prime Consultant, partnering with TxDOT Bryan District to study an approximately 125 mile corridor that will become the future I-14 Central Texas Corridor.


Focus Areas

Airport Obstacle Clearance Surface Development & Obstacle Analysis

Develops visualizations of obstacle identification surfaces and other airport safety surfaces through GIS technologies ensuring safe operations at airports nationwide. Geospatial analyses are performed on known or potential obstacles to determine if they obstruct critical surfaces to prevent aircraft accidents or mishaps.

Airport Pavement Distress Collection & Pavement Management

Manages airport pavement by leveraging GIS and GNSS technologies to collect pavement distresses for seamless processing by pavement management software. Use web-based GIS applications to assist the project team in viewing, filtering, querying, and analyzing airport pavement data.

Noise Analysis

Allows environmental planners and geospatial professionals to assess noise impacts for airport and roadway projects. This includes noise studies based on the FAA Integrated Noise Model for aircraft noise and the FHWA Stamina Highway Traffic Noise for roadway noise.

Public Involvement & Constituent Engagement

Stakeholder and public involvement services are specifically designed to promote transparency, accountability, trust-building, and better decision-making outcomes, while also ensuring that diverse perspectives are duly taken into consideration by actively engaging individuals who have a vested interest in our client’s projects.

Land Use Planning

Allows planners to make informed decisions, advance sustainable development and effectively analyze land use that benefits communities. Location-based insights are vital to determining land use preferences and development. We focus on ensuring the safe and effective operation of airports through comprehensive analysis that minimizes conflicts with nearby communities.

Mitigation Bank Mapping

Assists with site selection and assessment, ecological characterization and design and planning for suitability and potential benefits of the proposed areas. Location-based, geospatial tools are utilized throughout the project life cycle to maximize planning, monitoring, and reporting.

Roadway Feasibility Analysis

Involves the use of data to assess the planning of new roadways or improvements in a transportation network. The use of spatial analysis tools are essential to ensuring transportation projects are designed, resilient, and improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.

Traffic Analysis

Involves the use of data to study and analyze the movement and flow of traffic within the project area. Geospatial analysis methods support the analysis for data collection of traffic patterns, conditions, parking, real-time traffic management, and more to enhance the resiliency of the transportation system.
