RS&H Names Marlon Starr as Chief Legal Officer

May 11, 2022      By Staff Writer

RS&H announced today that Marlon Starr has joined the engineering, architecture and consulting firm as Chief Legal Officer.

Starr will be responsible for overseeing all legal activities of the company and will serve as a key business partner and member of the executive team. He will lead and manage RS&H’s corporate governance, complex commercial and government contracts, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance and litigation matters.

“Marlon’s depth and breadth of experience in risk management and history of leading strong legal teams makes him an ideal fit,” said Sweeney. “His leadership and partnership will be invaluable as we continue to grow in new and existing markets.”

Starr comes to RS&H after spending the past nine years as senior vice president and general counsel of a digital advertising and marketing company focused on the multifamily housing industry. In that role, he oversaw all legal matters including litigation, financing, merger and acquisition transactions, compliance, contracts, intellectual property and real estate.

He spent the first two decades of his career as an associate and partner in two large law firms providing legal counsel focused on large corporate transactions, including public stock offerings, SEC reporting, mergers and acquisitions, and other general corporate matters.

“I was attracted to RS&H by a combination of factors: its position as a highly respected player in the growing AEC industry, the quality of the leadership team, and the enthusiasm and longevity of the associate base,” Starr said. “Combined with the employee ownership structure and all oars pulling in the same direction, the sky is the limit for RS&H, and I want to do everything I can to help it succeed.”

Starr received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University in New Orleans and earned his law degree from Emory University in Atlanta, where he still lives today.
