“We’re thrilled to welcome Col. Grainger to our team,” said Richard Hammett, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, Senior Vice President and Federal Market Leader for RS&H. “Scott’s [Grainger] extensive experience and distinguished military career will support our federal market team considerably and contribute to RS&H’s ongoing growth and success across all markets.”

With over three decades of experience in engineering, Grainger most recently held positions as the professor of Air and Space Studies at the University of Portland, Oregon, and the Commander of U.S. Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 695. His tenure in various engineering and leadership roles at the Air Force base, major command, and headquarters underscores his expertise in the field.

”I’ve dedicated my career to cultivating strong relationships, serving others, and growing both personally and professionally,” said Grainger. “In my new role at RS&H, I’m eager to continue fostering these relationships while also helping others solve their most challenging problems.”

Grainger brings a distinguished military career with him into his new role. As the U.S. Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Commander, he led the detachment’s instructors and support personnel. His duties include instructing and mentoring more than 70 members of the cadet wing as they pursue their academic degrees and commission as second lieutenants in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. Col. Grainger has 11 years of international experience, leading deployments in Djibouti, Iraq, and Qatar.

A fellow of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Grainger has held local, regional, and national leadership roles. He presently serves as an elected member of the National Board of Direction, the Deputy Regional Vice President of the Northern Tier Region, and the Vice Chair for Post Level Leader Development Programs with the Leader Development Community of Interest.

“I was drawn to RS&H because of its exceptional reputation and unwavering commitment to its core values,” said Grainger. “The opportunity to be an employee owner was important to me, and so was the opportunity to help foster a strong sense of community within the firm. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish together.”
