RS&H Elevate Fund Touches 13 Charities in Latest Give
This month, RS&H has donated $50,000 across 13 nonprofit groups through its Elevate Fund.
The RS&H Elevate Fund supports associates in aiding the communities they work and live in by encouraging and funding volunteer and charitable activities that align with the company’s values.
RS&H aims to provide grants to nonprofit organizations that focus on helping people in need, supporting children and youth programs, and enhancing education. Through three payouts since Elevate was launched in 2018, 32 nonprofit organizations have received more than $150,000.
This payout’s recipients are:
- MATHCOUNTS: MATHCOUNTS, a live middle school math competition, is an event that students have trained a year for with their coaches and teammates. The purpose is to stir middle school students’ interest and passion for STEM. RS&H’s donation will allow this annual competition to take place and give students the chance to continue expanding their knowledge.
- Communities in Schools of Jacksonville: Funds will support the FIRST LEGO League STEM program in 22 after-school programs in Duval County Public Schools. Students use their imagination while learning and applying STEM concepts to solve a problem and develop critical thinking, team building and presentation skills.
- Center for Independent Living, Orlando, Fla.: Funds granted will be used to purchase materials for the annual RAMPAGE event, supporting the build of four ramps for people with disabilities. The Center focuses on serving the low-income population.
- Northeast Florida School for Special Education (NFSSE): NFSSE combines academic and classroom instruction with vocational training for students ages 6-22 with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The grant allows them to focus on their four elementary classes to cover mindfulness training and therapeutic needs.
- Open World Cause: Open World Cause funds resource teacher salaries and lunch programs in Nepali and Kenyan schools. The grant will be used to balance fundraising initiatives for continuous programs that allow its partners to continue operation.
- Playa Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation, Inc.: The Rotary Club of Playa Venice Sunrise started as a business networking group and evolved into the world’s largest service club. Elevate funds will go toward the Teacher Mini-Grants program, which encourages and supports education, aids teachers and enhances the education received by the local youth.
- The Park People: The Park People aim to enhance, preserve and advocate for Denver’s parks and recreation. Their “Mile High Tree Champions” program received the grant. This program will enhance the urban canopy of Denver and engage volunteer activity.
- Casa Kane County: Casa Kane County is a nonprofit that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children and provides them with a voice through a well-trained volunteer advocate. The funds will be used for their new CASA University, which will provide training for volunteers to help them follow National CASA standards.
- Boynton Beach Rugby: Boynton Beach Rugby operates under the umbrella of Florida Youth Rugby Union. It is made up of teams of girls and boys under the age of 19, as well as youth teams from schools around Palm Beach County. Player participation is free, and all coaches are unpaid volunteers that work hard to teach the sport of rugby while creating a safe, fun and hardworking environment.
- Sporting Jax: Sporting Jax provides free soccer programs for children in Jacksonville. They welcome all children from all areas of Jacksonville to learn and play soccer. The grant they received will increase their school year programming to once per week at Simonds-Johnson Park for the 2019-2020 school year.
- The Movember Foundation: The Movember Foundation works to raise awareness about men’s health and funds research for men’s cancer. The funds will help with their No Shave November or Movember campaign for Men’s Health and Awareness month.
- FRIENDS Down Syndrome Network of East Tennessee: FRIENDS Down Syndrome Network of East Tennessee aims to enhance the quality of life for people with Down Syndrome. They want to raise awareness about people affected by Down Syndrome. Funds received will go towards their annual Christmas Social. This is the highlight of the year for their organization and provides food, entertainment and gifts for each child with Down Syndrome.
- Feeding Northeast Florida (FNEFL): Feeding Northeast Florida works to ensure families, children, seniors and veterans have the food they need. In 2018, they distributed more than 14.1 million meals to those struggling with hunger. The funds will go towards their mobile pantry program. Mobile pantries are deployed to population areas most vulnerable to hunger.
