[ATLANTA, GA]—RS&H has been named a 2026 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Georgia Engineering Excellence Merit Award, recognizing the firm’s exceptional work on the Cumberland Transit Center Site Feasibility Study for the Cobb County Department of Transportation (DOT). By delivering a forward-thinking roadmap for a new multimodal hub, RS&H is helping to shape a connected, resilient future for one of Georgia’s largest counties within the rapidly growing Atlanta region.
The Cumberland area welcomes over 10 million visitors annually, driven by major destinations such as Truist Park, The Battery, and the Cobb Convention Center in Atlanta. To accommodate this rapid growth and support long-term economic development, Cobb County DOT partnered with RS&H to identify the optimal location for a modern multimodal transit center. The project required balancing complex topography, high-value real estate, and the diverse needs of multiple community stakeholders, including Georgia DOT, the Cumberland Community Improvement District, Atlanta Braves Holding, Inc., and the City of Smyrna.
“Our partnership with Cobb County DOT demonstrates what can be achieved when a shared vision meets expertise and determination. Congratulations to Cobb County DOT, and every RS&H professional involved—this honor celebrates innovative thinking and the unwavering commitment to improving community mobility,” said Chris Jackson, PE, Southeast Division Leader for RS&H’s Infrastructure Business Unit.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Cobb County DOT for entrusting us with this important project,” added Steve Cote, PE, AICP, RS&H Project Manager. “This recognition is a tribute to our team’s dedication and the trust of our partners. It’s a privilege to support a project that will benefit so many and help build a stronger, more connected community.”
