Each year, RS&H dedicates a portion of the firm’s corporate revenues to provide grants to nonprofit organizations in communities we serve. Earlier this month, the firm made its fourth donation from its Elevate Fund – $46,000 across nine nonprofit groups.

“RS&H has a tradition of philanthropy and community involvement reflecting our core values, which are guiding our way during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said RS&H Elevate Committee Chair Stephanie Trefry. “We believe it’s more important than ever to support these organizations that our associates support.”

The mission of the RS&H Elevate Fund supports associates in aiding the communities they work and live in by encouraging and funding volunteer and charitable activities that align with the company’s values. RS&H aims to provide grants to nonprofit organizations that focus on helping people in need, supporting children and youth programs, and enhancing education.

The fourth payout Elevate Fund recipients are:

Council for Children’s Rights: Funds will help the Council for Children’s Rights to continue to fight for children in Mecklenburg County through legal representation, individual advocacy, and addressing community wide issues through research and policy work. The funds will go directly to the Custody Advocacy Program (CAP), which represents children whose parents are engaged in highly contested custody cases.

Girl Scouts of Gateway Council, JacksonvilleElevate funding will go towards providing a camp aimed at introducing girls to STEM experiences relevant to everyday life. Girl Scouts learn that STEM careers are a great path toward their goals to serve their world.

Goochland High School Robotics Team: Funds will help send the Goochland High School Robotics Team to the FIRST Robotics Competition, a competition that combines the excitement of robotics with the rigors of science and technology.

K9s for Warriors: K9s for Warriors is the nation’s largest provider of service dogs for disabled American veterans. The group is dedicated to providing service canines to soldiers suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and military sexual trauma as a result of military service. Elevate funding will support a space for returning warriors, a training kennel, and dog depot for performing dog intake and evaluation.

Knight of Columbus Council 17616: Elevate funding will benefit several programs, including Camp I Am Special, Furniture for the Less Fortunate, and Coats for Kids. The Knights of Columbus Council renders financial aid to members and their families.

March of Dimes: The grant given to March of Dimes will contribute to the fight for the health of moms and babies through the organization’s Bundles of Love programs. The programs provide care packages for moms filled with comforting items and information on resources during their time in the NICU with their babies.

San Antonio Food Bank: The San Antonio Food Bank helps serve one of the largest areas in Southwest Texas. Funds given to the food bank will go towards their backpack program, which provides food for students on the weekends.

The UNF Foundation at the University of North Florida, Jacksonville: Funds will help develop a Dean’s Community STEM Ambassador Program for the College of Computing, Engineering and Construction (CCEC). CCEC aims to increase diversity of thought through increased participation by women and other underrepresented groups.

Where Angels Play Foundation: Funds will help construct a playground in Parkland, Florida to honor the victims of the 2018 Parkland High School tragedy. The Where Angeles Play Foundation, established after the tragedy at Sand Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, aims to build playgrounds across the country for communities in need.

The give is the first of RS&H’s 2021 fiscal year. In total, the RS&H Elevate Fund has donated nearly $200,000 to 37 nonprofit organizations. The organizations and donations are decided on by a group of RS&H associates on the Elevate Committee.
