Corporate Campus
Vistakon, a division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., is a global leader and medical device manufacturer of contact lenses. Challenged with limited space at their corporate campus, Vistakon commissioned RS&H to assist with strategic real estate planning and space optimization for their various business units.
Our solution used Johnson & Johnson FLEXplace design concepts to provide an open-office, neighborhood environment designed to encourage workplace collaboration, enhance productivity, and accommodate the diverse and mobile workforce. In addition to providing executive offices and a boardroom, the new space featured a mobility center, collaboration areas, focused work areas, neighborhood workstations, and a large training room.
Leadership Suite
The Vision Care Institute was conceived as an opportunity to engage optometry school graduates and eye care professionals by offering a curriculum of instructional training and hands-on interactive learning. The project required the conversion of existing ground floor office spaces and underutilized storage spaces to accommodate training rooms, conference rooms, internet lounge, exam rooms, dispensing laboratory, and instructor admin offices. Located at the center of the facility is a state of the art large (1,000 square feet) training conference classroom equipped with large multiscreen project walls, video conferencing, and the latest audiovisual technologies. To enhance the quality of the internal room, backlit “windows” were integrated into the design to simulate daylighting from windows within the “windowless” room. The room also featured a custom designed table to accommodate 30 people. The custom table featured a metallic automotive paint finish, integrated power, data, and microphones, and was designed in sections to accommodate installation and delivery.
The Vision Care Institute concept proved to be extremely successful with attendance from over half of the nation’s 1,100 optometry school graduates. As a result of the successful program, the Vision Care Institute concept was replicated in 17 locations worldwide by Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, Inc.
