Van Nuys Airport On-Call Planning
RS&H served LAWA in support of multiple projects at Van Nuys Airport to ensure continued efficient operations and assisted in securing FAA grant funds in support of capital improvements. Van Nuys Airport is a critical aviation link for Los Angeles serving a diverse fleet mix of general aviation aircraft, business aircraft, and working aircraft (e.g. news, law enforcement, medical, firefighting and other specialty aviation).
Key projects included coordination of an FAA AIP grant to fund a $50 million rehabilitation of two critical taxiways. RS&H prepared an alternatives evaluation to address non-standard conditions and prepared modifications of standards applications to enable FAA funding of these much-needed airfield improvements.
RS&H also assisted with coordination of temporary construction activities to minimize disruption to air operations at one of the world’s busiest general aviation airports. RS&H staff were embedded with LAWA Planning staff for more than six years supporting projects at Van Nuys Airport.
