New Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center Commissioning, Joint Base San Antonio, TX
RS&H provided independent LEED Enhanced Health Facility Commissioning (HFCx) services for New Wilford Hall, the U.S. Air Force’s flagship medical facility for outpatient care. Serving more than 55,000 patients, it is the Department of Defense’s largest outpatient ambulatory surgical center.
The RS&H CxA and specialists conducted multidiscipline design reviews concurrently with government reviewers at each design milestone. Identification and resolution of design conflicts well in advance of government deadlines mitigated costs and prevented schedule delays.
The RS&H team assisted USACE with the development of Owner Project Requirements and commissioning plans, preparation of reports, and review of equipment submittals. During construction, the on-site RS&H team was immediately accessible and engaged in direct communication with USACE personnel.
This facility achieved USGBC LEED v3.0 EA Enhanced Commissioning certification and is a high-performance health facility that met the owner’s needs and design intent.
