McKinnon St. Simons Airport
RS&H worked with the Glynn County Airport Commission and the Georgia Department of Transportation Aviation Program to develop a multi-phase work program to rehabilitate Runway 16-34 at McKinnon St. Simons Island Airport. This secondary runway is critical for many of the smaller aircraft that frequent the airport. The runway was afflicted with severe block cracking that had the potential to lead loss of subgrade stability by wash-out of subsoils. Rehabilitation of the 3,313-foot by 75-foot runway’s pavement was accomplished using cold-in-place recycling methods.
