Focus Areas & Services

At RS&H, we believe in tackling challenges head-on with collaborative partnerships and proven solutions. Partnering closely with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), we embarked on the critical task of reconstructing Taxilane C at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), one of the busiest and most constrained airports in the world. Together, we addressed pressing infrastructure needs while ensuring minimal disruption to airport operations.

Collaborative solutions for a complex challenge

Recognizing the deteriorating conditions impacting key pavement areas near Terminals 4 and 5, RS&H worked hand-in-hand with LAWA to design and execute a phased reconstruction strategy that prioritized operational efficiency and safety. This phased approach, developed in close collaboration with our client, ensured effective planning to minimize the impact on LAX’s critical airfield operations.

During phase 1, completed in 2021, our team successfully designed and reconstructed the first portion of Taxilane C, covering Terminal 4 and 5. Together, we implemented permanent and forward-looking solutions, replacing failed asphalt concrete pavement with Cement Concrete Pavement (CCP), engineered to last a minimum of 20 years. CCP enhances safety and efficiency for aircraft movements while preserving the integrity and functionality of LAX as a global aviation hub.

Driving innovation, safety, and longevity

Our partnership with LAWA was rooted in a shared vision of improving airfield infrastructure to support future growth. The reconstruction of Taxilane C was a testament to our ability to transform complexity into opportunity. We used a phased reconstruction process to help plan and minimize airfield disruptions while maintaining operational continuity. Our strategic execution addressed critical pavement failures efficiently in some of the more constrained areas of the airport.

Our efforts on Taxilane C set the foundation for future phases, addressing the segment from Gate 59 to C6, demonstrating our commitment to adaptability and continuous improvement as challenges evolve.

A partnership built on vision and dedication

At RS&H, we are dedicated to collaborating with clients like LAWA to create enduring solutions for the aviation industry. Together, we’re building the future of air travel by enhancing infrastructure and ensuring operational excellence. Through teamwork, expertise, and a commitment to innovation, we’re proud to help LAX sustain its role as a global leader in aviation.

By focusing on long-term resilience and the needs of our partners, RS&H is paving the way for infrastructure solutions that will serve generations to come.
