The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District (District) is implementing a series of projects to modernize the toll collection system on the Golden Gate Bridge. RS&H is supporting these efforts through an on-call contract providing program management, system implementation support, planning, customer service center (CSC) integration, business rules development, civil infrastructure review and oversight, technology evaluation support, and operations and maintenance support. As an extension of the District’s staff, our team is also responsible for toll system vendor communication and management, contract compliance tracking, and ongoing legacy contractor management.
Early Host Project
RS&H provided oversight to the toll system integrator’s design, development, integration, testing and deployment of a new toll collection system Host, integrating it into the District’s legacy toll collection system. In support of this project, RS&H was responsible for leading technical design reviews, CSC integration coordination, regional interoperability planning, system requirements validation, system testing oversight, contract compliance, data migration, system performance validation and deployment/transition management.
Lane Replacement Project
RS&H is currently managing the District’s Lane Replacement Project, overseeing the system integrator’s design, development, integration, testing and deployment of an updated lane side system. This project includes a comprehensive retrofit of the lane-side infrastructure and hardware at the bridge’s toll plaza, decommissioning of the legacy toll system host, end-to-end testing of an update toll host and a scripted transition to the new system. RS&H responsibilities include program management, vendor procurement support, contract development and management, toll system infrastructure design review, toll system design oversight, business policy development and validation, technology evaluations, equipment installation oversight, testing oversight, testing validation, performance analysis and maintenance support.
Maintenance Program Oversight
RS&H also supports the District by managing their maintenance contract with their toll system integrator. Responsibilities include performance tracking, prioritizing and tracking daily maintenance tasks, validating system fixes, testing oversight and coordination with regional partners on behalf of the District.
