Broward County Continuing Engineering Services
RS&H is providing Broward County with professional engineering services through work authorization assignments involving engineering design, management, and construction engineering inspection services for transportation and general civil engineering projects. The tasks include production of complete sets of contract plans or component sets (i.e. roadway, maintenance of traffic, drainage, structures, signing and pavement marking, signalization, ITS, lighting, landscape, utilities, and architectural) for county enhancement projects. Projects include new construction, reconstruction or rehabilitation of county roadways, complete streets improvements, road diets, traffic signal intersection upgrades, school zone flasher systems, and safety and operations improvements of transportation and transit facilities, as well as general civil engineering capital improvements required by any Division under the county’s Public Works Department.
RS&H was awarded the contract in October 2018, the same year that county constituents voted in favor of a penny surtax for transportation initiatives that resulted in an additional $300 million for annual transportation spending. Since RS&H was one of three consultants under contract once revenue collection started, we have been able to assist the county with implementation of shovel-ready projects funded by the surtax, as well as immediate needs projects.
Under this contract, RS&H is also assisting with concept development and serving as the client representative on the high-profile Port Everglades/Convention Center bypass roadway project, a top priority for the county.
