U.S. Route 460 Connector Phase I
RS&H provided Independent Assurance/Independent Verification services to VDOT as the prime consultant for this award winning project. The Route 460 Connector Phase I project includes new twin segmental bridges, known as the Grassy Creek Bridges; each 1,733’ long with a deck width of 43’, a maximum height of over 250’, and a longest span of 489’. The new bridges were constructed using the cast-in-place balanced cantilever method. Additional work included the construction of 0.8 miles of four-lane divided highway, an access ramp to Route 80, secondary connections to Route 609 and Route 690 from Route 80, and the construction of the Hunts Creek Bridge. RS&H also provided the inventory inspection of the new structures on behalf of VDOT.
