SR 1700 Travel Demand Modeling
RS&H performed travel demand modeling and traffic forecasting for the planned widening of SR 1700 in Pitt County, North Carolina. Alternatives for the proposed improvements include a:
- three-lane roadway
- four-lane, median-divided roadway
- combination three-lane/four-lane roadway
- five-lane roadway
We prepared traffic forecasts by comparing different methodologies, such as historic and projected growths in traffic volumes, population and employment, and results from the travel demand model. We then modeled base-year and future-year scenarios with and without the proposed projects using the Greenville Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Regional Travel Demand Model (TransCAD).
The project included extensive coordination with the Greenville MPO and Town of Winterville.
