Newport News Williamsburg Airport

Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport provides commercial service and general aviation facilities for the Eastern Virginia communities of Newport News, Williamsburg and Hampton Roads.

RS&H renovated and modernized the 25-year-old concourse B at Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport. Project elements included HVAC upgrades, interior and apron lighting replacement, public address, access control, building generator, skylight, and curtainwall glazing. All interior architectural finishes were replaced with new doors and hardware.

Another project which RS&H designed for the Airport is a new Customs and Border Protection (CBP) passenger processing facility, located on the lower level of concourse A. RS&H worked with CBP officials to set appropriate guidelines for the facility.

RS&H was also redesigned the TSA passenger security checkpoint combining two separate, inefficient areas into one with sufficient redundancy for a more efficient operation. This required a minor building addition for circulation post security. This also enables the food and beverage concessions to be more convenient and efficient to occupy the same common area post security.
