M2Gen Cancer Research Building
This four-story, 100,000-square-foot cancer research building is a bio-repository and focuses on biomarker research.
M2Gen will develop personalized cancer treatments for patients using molecular technology. As a partnership between Moffit Cancer Research and Merck & Co., researchers will collect tumor tissues from thousands of patients across Florida and other states, and identify the biological markers unique to each tumor. Analyzing patients’ responses to specific treatments will lead to more individualized care aimed at providing rapid improvement with fewer side effects. M2Gen is expected to advance the practice of personalized medicine by taking Moffitt’s wide-ranging initiative to a new level.
The two primary activities at the M2Gen facility are bio-repository functions (tissue processing and tissue banking) and data archiving and analytic functions (IT, informatics, etc.).
