Kalamazoo International Airport
Kalamazoo International Airport serves the communities of Southwestern Michigan. RS&H provided design and construction services for multiple projects at the airport, including a new passenger terminal complex. The 90,000-square-foot facility has significant expansion capability enabling it to serve the community well into the future. In addition to the new terminal, a new infrastructure was necessary, including exterior way-finding systems and parking, along with site planning for future airport ARFF and maintenance facilities.
The architecture for this five-gate facility is reflective of the history and culture of the cities of Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Portage, and their surrounding areas by incorporating appropriate materials, local imagery and indigenous landscaping. Through careful planning and consideration of critical passenger flows, RS&H has maximized the opportunities for financial success of the tenants in locating concessions, including retail, food service, car rental, parking, advertising and travel agencies.
