Fort Hood Family Life Center
This design-build project consists of an Army Standard Design Chapel (USACE, Omaha COS) Family Life Center (Circa 1995), and a unique facility type currently identified as a multi-purpose activity center on a shared site. The combined facility is approximately 27,000 square feet. The Family Life Center portion consists of 17,000 square feet of single-story construction, and includes classrooms, counseling rooms, and a multi-purpose activity area for assembly functions. The multi-purpose activity center consists of 10,000 square feet of two-story construction, and includes a gymnasium, arts and crafts area, and a youth lounge containing a multi-media area and a coffee/juice bar interactive area.
This project required coordination with two other general contractors constructing the chapel and education building, and child development center within the same site boundary. In order for all of the chapel complex buildings to look cohesive, exterior and interior finishes were selected to match or coordinate with the design of the chapel and education building designed by others.
