Bear, Levin, Studer YMCA
The new 52,000-square-foot YMCA facility will serve 8,000 members and is situated in the historic Palafox district of Pensacola, Florida. A contemporary reflection of the latest trends in athletic facility design, combined with traditional materials, such as brick and stucco, the new facility will be a centerpiece within the surrounding neighborhood, which is planned for future redevelopment.
The building will showcase state-of-the-art venues, including an aquatics center, gymnasium, and wellness center. Other features will include a Kid’s Zone, lap and therapy pools, an accessible water slide, a spin room, group exercise rooms, a demonstration kitchen, and a multipurpose room. The prominent use of glass promotes healthy living, allows for visual connections between programs, and will bring in natural light throughout the building.
RS&H served as Designer-of-Record for the project, providing architecture and interior design consulting services to the Architect-of-Record.
