Commissary Upgrades and Renovation, Cannon AFB, NM

Working closely with DeCA’s regional participants, DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee and Lackland AFB, as well as local base stakeholders, RS&H provided facility assessment and analysis then full design services to modernize the Cannon AFB Commissary with a tight budget.

The RS&H team assessed the facility along with the DeCA Planning and Construction PMs to develop the Facility Assessment and Condition report, which included documentation of all life safety requirements and non-code compliant issues found at the store.  Following the assessment, the team provided a laser surface digitized CADD survey and 360-degree pictures/images of every room in the commissary with a comparison to DeCA’s standard commissary prototype.  This analysis tool allowed the DeCA and RS&H team to make informed decisions for bringing the store up to new standards while considering budget and capital investment.

Utilizing the findings from the site investigation and follow on analysis, the design team completed design services for the sustainment project to address air conditioning and cold storage room upgrades, replace a damaged loading dock ramp, as well as upgrades the fire suppression system, ADA compliance measures, and store décor.

RS&H’s design team developed construction documents including drawings, specifications, design analysis, and cost estimate.  RS&H also developed Construction Phasing Plans to ensure continuous operation and service customers during construction.
