BJ’s Wholesale Club – Southeast Distribution Center
RS&H provided full-service architectural and building engineering design for BJ’s Wholesale Club’s new distribution center in Jacksonville, Florida. The project included a 290,000-square-foot warehouse, a 170,000-square-foot cross-dock, and 20,000 square feet of office space.
The facility’s shell construction consists of a pre-engineered metal building with split face CMU and metal panel exterior walls. A 60-foot by 44-foot bay spacing with a 32-foot clear height is provided in the warehouse, and a 67-foot by 40-foot bay spacing with a 20-foot clear height is provided in the cross-dock. There are a total of 173 dock high doors. Each is equipped with a hydraulic dock leveler. Additionally, three dock doors with forklift ramps serve the facility.
Rooftop exhaust fans with interlocked side wall louvers ventilate the warehouse and cross-dock. Natural gas-fired air rotation units provide heat in the facility. Metal halide luminaries supply warehouse and cross-dock lighting. Both spaces are protected with an ESFR fire sprinkler system.
