RS&H Vice President John Lengel has been appointed to Vice Chair of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Environmental Services Committee.
The committee provides support to AAAE members on environmental issues and communicates the membership’s positions to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other federal or state agencies. The committee is guided by the principles of protecting human health and the environment at and around airports by implementing scientifically-based and cost-effective management practices and approaches.
“Informing and advocating for airports on environmental issues is especially important today as airports across the country make significant infrastructure investments,” Lengel said. “The committee continues to seek innovative and proactive approaches to maximize the value of this committee to all AAAE members.”
For more than a quarter-century, Lengel has worked with more than 35 airports nationwide providing environmental compliance expertise, specializing in resiliency, water resources, regulatory strategy development, sustainability, environmental management systems, hazardous chemical inventory, and more. He has been involved in the committee since the mid-1990s and served the last five years as the Committee’s Water Quality Chair.
Founded in 1928, AAAE is the world’s largest professional organization for airport executives, representing thousands of airport management personnel at public-use commercial and general aviation airports. AAAE’s members represent nearly 875 airports and authorities, in addition to hundreds of companies and organizations that support airports.
