JACKSONVILLE, FL – Aug. 29, 2011 – Richard (Dick) R. Wallace of RS&H, one of the nation’s leading facilities and infrastructure consulting firms, has received the Florida Engineering Society’s 2011 Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement for his work on the Bridge of Lions rehabilitation project in St. Augustine. The award is given annually to an individual who, as a project engineer or manager, has achieved particular distinction in his/her own technical field or practice. The award was presented at this month’s joint 2011 Annual Florida Engineering Society/Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers Summer Conference in Miami.

“Since 2000, Mr. Wallace has been instrumental in developing the innovating solutions that preserved the bridge’s historic defining features and remained the point of contact throughout all six years of construction,” said David Sweeney, Senior Vice President and Director of Transportation at RS&H, who also served as the Design Project Manager from 2000 to 2004.

Wallace is a Vice President and Senior Bridge Engineer at RS&H and has worked at the firm for over 36 years. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, is a registered Professional Engineer in seven states, and has designed over 100 movable and fixed bridges throughout the U.S.
