Education, Health and Science Program Wins Architectural Excellence Award

RS&H won the “Architectural Excellence Award” from the City of Chandler, Arizona for its design of the Covance Development Center. As the first phase of a contract research campus, the Covance Development Center houses toxicology testing functions, laboratories, conference and training center, cafeteria, offices, and full-service vivarium.

Chandler, a suburb of Phoenix, evaluated more than 40 projects over the past two years judging each on its design, use of materials, site planning, landscaping, and relationship to surroundings.

Gathered at Chandler City Hall December 15, Chandler officials recognized eight building projects with awards at the City’s 7th Architectural Excellence Awards Ceremony hosted by Chandler Mayor, Boyd W. Dunn.

“All of us understand the importance of providing reliable infrastructure, quality of life amenities, and the delivery of great service,” Mayor Dunn said. “But we believe it is also important to encourage the highest quality design in our projects.”

The Architectural Excellence Award was presented to outstanding projects that demonstrated exceptional design, setting them apart from a group of otherwise meritorious projects. Only three other projects received Architectural Excellence Awards.

Jonathan Cantor represented the RS&H Team at the ceremonies and accepted the award.

RS&H had a solid in-house architectural, structural, interior design, and laboratory design team that utilized the efforts of both the Education, Health and Science and Corporate  Programs. It was a great example of interprogram cooperation that resulted in a significant national project for the advancement of the Science and Technology Market Group.
