JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Jan. 19, 2011 – RS&H, one of the nation’s leading facilities and infrastructure consulting firms whose client-centered program structure provides value-added solutions to clients around the world, has hired Rob Palmer, AICP, to lead the planning, transit and traffic efforts in its Jacksonville office. Mr. Palmer brings over 26 years of experience on large-scale public and private-sector planning studies, including major transportation corridor studies and sub-area plans, as well as transportation planning for states, regional planning agencies, major visitor venues and local governments.
“Mr. Palmer’s knowledge and experience of regional planning initiatives in Northeast Florida and throughout the state will bring an invaluable level of expertise to our clients,” says Lisa Robert, RS&H Transportation/Infrastructure Office Leader in Jacksonville. “We will draw on his leadership and insight as transportation planning in Florida takes on a more regional approach.”
Mr. Palmer served as the Co-Chairman of Reality Check First Coast, the seven-county regional visioning exercise in 2009 that involved over 300 leaders from the public, private and nonprofit sectors to analyze and develop alternative growth scenarios for Northeast Florida. He also serves as Chairman of the North Florida Chapter of the Urban Land Institute, an organization that provides leadership in responsible land use and sustainable development.
Mr. Palmer has managed several high-profile projects, including transportation studies and sub-area plans for Walt Disney World in Orlando, the Disneyland resorts in Europe and Tokyo, Disney’s America project near Washington, D.C., and the Orlando International Airport. He has also served as a general planning consultant to the Florida Department of Transportation District Two and Central Offices, as well as the First Coast Metropolitan Planning Organization (now North Florida Transportation Planning Organization).
Mr. Palmer received a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Environmental Studies from the Florida State University. He is also registered with the American Institute of Certified Planners.
