RS&H is celebrating a 25 year partnership with the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense. The agency operates almost 250 commissaries worldwide, providing food and other products to servicemen and women, military retirees and their families.
Another major milestone in the implementation of the South Florida Regional Managed Lanes network was achieved on March 24, with the opening of the first phase of the I-75 Express Lanes from Northwest 170th Street in Miami-Dade County to I-595 in Broward County.
Managed lane projects are being developed nationwide as cost-effective congestion management relief tools. When developing an RFP, the agency should require close coordination between the toll system integrator and the design-build contractor. On many projects, the system integrator is hired under a separate contract from that of the contractor. But that could be detrimental. A coordinated approach benefits the project in four ways.
The mitigation market as it exists today has its good qualities, but there are some drawbacks too. I’d like to propose some ideas and open a dialog about ways we can try to improve our industry.

Have you heard about the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2016? Not to be confused with the WRDA of 1974 or WRDA of 1992 – those are just three of 11 WRDAs. All WRDAs are related to water resources needs, but the actual applications are varied among environmental, structural, navigational, flood protection, hydrology, and other needs.
