CJ Youmans Selected for 2018 Project Manager of the Year Award

Brian Nazarian wins R. Ray Goode Community Service Award

Each month, Brian Nazarian and his son, Wolfgang, load their utility trailer with tools and materials and head out to rendezvous with their team of volunteers in San Antonio, Texas. The retired Air Force civil engineer and current RS&H associate wants to instill in his son the values of integrity, service and excellence that he embodied while in the military – and which he sees reinforced every day at RS&H.

“He’s only 11 years old, and he’s received the citizenship award through his school,” said Brian. “He understands the value in doing good for the sake of doing good.”

On June 18, Brian received a citizenship accolade of his own, as the recipient of RS&H’s R. Ray Goode Community Service Award. This year, Brian has constructed more than a dozen wheelchair ramps, allowing disabled people to gain access to their homes. He has also donated blood – a particularly important act, as Brian’s blood type and antibody levels let him donate blood to all blood types in whole blood transfusions.

Eriks Jekabsons earns 2018 Professional Practitioner of the Year

The “go-to” guy for difficult designs within Aerospace & Defense, Eriks Jekabsons is the winner of the 2018 Professional Practitioner of the Year award.

In his four years with RS&H, Eriks has proven himself a resource for his colleagues, providing a high level of insight on structural design aspects. Beyond that, he is well-respected among clients, from governmental agencies to commercial space companies.

RS&H Helps Construct North Carolina’s First Scissor Bridges

When Billy Smith arrived for his job interview at RS&H, Michael Davis, his soon-to-be boss, took him to the first scissor bridge in North Carolina, the construction of which was overseen by RS&H associates in 2015. Little did Billy know, just about a year later, he would be overseeing the construction of the second such bridge in North Carolina, connecting U.S. Highway 70 to North Carolina-147 in Durham, N.C.
