As RS&H’s Jacksonville Office Leader, Kim Holland, PE, has helped lead the firm’s Transportation-Infrastructure efforts in Northeast Florida and beyond.  She has directed some of the most transformative transportation projects in the Jacksonville region.

For her leadership at RS&H and in the Jacksonville community, Holland earned a Women of Influence Award from the Jacksonville Business Journal. The annual awards celebrate local women in leadership roles who have made a difference in their communities, blazed a trail for others and are leaving their mark on the North Florida business community.

“We’re so proud of Kim and this wonderful recognition of her contributions to RS&H, the transportation industry and the Jacksonville community,” said RS&H Executive Vice President Lisa Robert, who nominated Holland for the award. “This award is well-deserved.”

Storied career
Holland has more than 23 years of civil and transportation engineering experience involving project management, roadway/drainage design, traffic control, utilities, signing and pavement markings, public involvement, and permitting on projects ranging from complex system-to-system interchanges to roadway rehabilitations. She is a Certified Floodplain Manager and LEED Accredited Professional as well as being certified in Advanced Maintenance of Traffic and Specification Package Preparation.

Holland served as project director for the design of the I-95 Overland Bridge Replacement, as RS&H worked with the Florida Department of Transportation on Jacksonville’s most visible transportation artery and main evacuation route.

Award-winning projects
In addition to winning national volunteer and leadership awards from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) and the American Society of Highway Engineers, two of Holland’s signature projects – the rehabilitation of St. Augustine’s Bridge of Lions and the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Martin County – earned national industry awards. In fact, the Veterans Memorial Bridge project was the first new Intracoastal Waterway crossing in South Florida in 20 years, and provided a hurricane evacuation route for beachside residents to connect to Florida’s Turnpike.

In 2012, Holland was promoted to Vice President of Transportation and serves with a focused approach on client management, engineering, business development and operations. She now leads a team of nearly 60 engineers, planners, and technical professionals. During her 16 years at RS&H, Holland’s leadership and commitment has helped RS&H to be consistently ranked as the top engineering firm in Jacksonville.

“Kim has been the single most influential person in my career,” said RS&H Vice President and Jacksonville Highway Leader Morgan County. “She’s been a great role model and an excellent leader.”

Leader in the community
In the community, Holland has served on Leadership Jacksonville’s Board of Directors for the last four years. She is currently the organization’s Development Committee Chair and has previously served on the Alumni Committee (as chair from 2016-2017) and Strategic Committee. She has long been on the University of North Florida’s Engineering Advisory Board and is the Chair of the Jacksonville Chamber Alliance Infrastructure and Technology Committee.

She has worked with the PACE Center for Girls, which provides girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy. She has served as a volunteer for the Clothes Closet for PACE Family since 2015. Holland also participated in the Builder’s Care project which completed a building renovation for AMIkids. AMIkids helps transform the lives of at risk kids to help them become a productive and contributing member of Jacksonville’s society.

Holland also supports Jacksonville’s One Spark, serving as a subject matter expert and industry thought-leader as a Spark Tank Judge, to help select Jacksonville’s next Creator and be a mentor.
