RS&H can now add its video team to the list of internationally award-winning groups within the company, after the production group took home two bronze wins in the 2018 Telly Awards. The Telly Awards, an international competition that garners more than 12,000 entries spanning all 50 states and 5 continents, features entries from some of the world’s top companies.
The wins come after several years of steady growth within the Communications, Marketing and Strategy department and within the video team itself. Video Production Lead Steve Scheiber was hired four years ago to give the company in-house video capabilities, and he has led many of the video advancements within RS&H. Laura Ospina was hired a year and a half ago as a video production specialist to keep up with the growing demand, and a new hire, Ryan McPherson, will start on June 18. Steve attributes RS&H’s growing use of video to an executive leadership that understands the importance of video in connecting internally with associates and externally with clients and the public.
Steve says that having the right equipment and working with a dedicated staff have brought company videos to the next level.
“For me, what I’m most proud of is being able to show the passion our associates have for the work that they’re doing and to be able to showcase the significance of that work within a compelling story,” says Steve. “Our projects impact the lives of whole communities and will be used for generations to come. It’s amazing when you think about that. It’s a story that deserves to be shared.”
The two winning entries feature video by Laura Ospina and Steve Scheiber, as well as visualization and graphics by Tim Witsil, Ian McRobbie, Kyle Parrino, and Will Biedrzycki. The team also relied on strong partnerships with Morgan County and CJ Youmans from the Transportation-Infrastructure Practice and Shane Rixom from the Transportation-Construction Management Practice, each of whom played an integral role in their videos’ respective production processes.
The videos show the range of offerings the team provides, with one, “Clay County: First Coast Expressway,” showcasing its work-for-hire abilities and the other, “Construction Management Recruiting,” highlighting its support of RS&H recruiting efforts. The team also provides regular assistance internally, allowing associates to connect across the country through live-streaming events such as town hall meetings.
For Steve, the recent awards are a sign that the video team is where it needs to be production-wise.
“When you win an award like this, it’s good because it lets you know your team is on the right track,” said Steve.
And, Steve says, the video group’s success is ultimately an RS&H success, especially in this smartphone era where video has become the dominant tool for learning and discovering information.
“It combines so much. As a viewer, you get to meet our people; they can share their story and passion on a specific subject or project,” says Steve. “We combine that with music, motion graphics and visualization. We’re able to take people on a compelling journey that they can experience simply through their phones, tablets or desktop computers.”
“It’s an exciting time to be in video, and it’s an exciting time to be working at RS&H.”
