Winston-Salem Northern Beltway EIS Alternatives Analysis
Winston-Salem, North Carolina
RS&H was part of a consultant team that prepared a comprehensive Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for a new interstate beltway for the City of Winston-Salem. RS&H’s specific responsibility was to prepare an Alternatives Analysis (AA) and feasibility study of upgrading the US 52 corridor from a four-lane urban freeway to an eight-lane interstate highway. The AA documented the existing transportation conditions and the future travel demand along the 12-mile study corridor. This analysis also evaluated alternative highway improvement concepts that would provide increased capacity, mobility and operational safety of this facility.
I-595 PD&E Study
Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, Florida
Urbanized Southeast Florida is one of the most densely populated areas in the state. RS&H conducted a Project Development and Environmental (PD&E) Study to improve traffic operations and safety along the I-595 corridor in Broward County in an effort to sustain the region’s growth. The study led to a selected ultimate system alternative that included a transit component, elevated reversible lanes, braided ramps and auxiliary lanes, a continuous connection for SR 84 and interchange improvements/upgrades along the corridor. Phasing of the corridor resulted in 15 separate projects readied for design.
