Project
Description:
RS&H provided full architecture and
engineering services along with site due
diligence, site design and Program
Management support for the design and
development of a 2,500-square-foot branch
prototype bank for Colonial Bank’s Austin,
Texas Region. The design challenge was to
meet the Austin Energy Green Building and
Austin Building Standards, yet maintain the
Colonial Bank prototype interior appeal and
exterior façade.
The project is designed for LEED Gold
Certification and incorporates:
- Redesigned HVAC that will be on the
rooftop which will use 42% less energy and
offer enhanced refrigerant management,
increased ventilation and thermal comfort
- Photovoltaic panels are anticipated to
provide a substantial portion of the
building’s energy
- The building will draw at least 30% less
water from the municipal water supply
through low flow fixtures, and the
landscaping will not require any potable
water to maintain
- During construction, the contractor is
anticipated to divert at least 75% of
associated waste from the landfill
- At least 20% of the materials for the new
building will be manufactured regionally,
stimulating the local economy and reducing
the carbon footprint associated with
shipping
