Project Description:

RS&H is designing a new cutting-edge terminal that will help set the standard for green airport buildings. Features of the new facility include:
  • Extensive use of natural daylight and passive solar shades/reflectors to eliminate the need for artificial lighting throughout the day

  • A public garden that is accessible from the passenger lobby with views of aircraft and is xeriscaped using only native landscaping that requires no irrigation

  • Use of photocell-powered flush valves at all plumbing fixtures

  • Extensive use of automated sun shading devices that lower translucent window shading to maintain a comfortable occupied environment

  • Use of a rain harvesting and storage system to reduce overall building water consumption

  • Use of solar-powered electric ground service equipment

  • Use of passive lighting controls to fully automate and optimize energy consumption in the building

  • Use of variable flow refrigerant system for the heating/cooling of the building

  • Use of low-VOC and high-recycled-content materials throughout the building

  • Implementation of 100% recycling of all construction debris
