Project
Description:
RS&H has provided energy and environmental
engineering services to DeCA for 13 years.
As part of this contract, RS&H has performed
energy and water audits, design reviews and
commissioning services for DeCA facilities
throughout the world.
- Energy Surveys and Audits: RS&H
has performed comprehensive energy and water
audits at 15 commissaries, two CDCs and
one administrative facility. RS&H identified
over $732,000 in energy and water-saving
projects that will reduce DeCA’s annual
utility costs by $391,000. The combined
simple payback is 1.9 years.
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management
System: Since 2003 RS&H
has assisted DeCA in the development and
implementation of their EMS. Included are
Environmental Management Programs for Solid
Waste Disposal Reduction and Solid Waste
Recycling, RS&H evaluated DeCA’s current
solid waste disposal and recycling
practices, which through recycling revenue
and cost avoidance dollars at a cumulative
rate of approximately $64 million through 2012.
- Design Document Reviews: RS&H
reviewed designs for more than 20 major
renovations or new commissaries for
energy-efficient design. RS&H also reviewed
and recommended changes to the DeCA
Commissary Design Guidelines for energy
savings in design. RS&H has also reviewed
the DeCA Design Guidelines for energy and
water-saving design and recommended changes
that would improve the operating performance
of commissaries.
- Commissioning: RS&H provided
construction administration services for
energy upgrades at the following
commissaries: Andrews AFB, Bolling AFB,
Mayport, Portsmouth NNSY, Fort Bragg and
Little Creek, which included commissioning
of all energy-saving control systems.
